Funds are exclusively available to local Indonesian institutions operating in the Bird’s Head Seascape and will be disbursed to:
- Support the effective co-management and enforcement of the Bird’s Head Seascape network of 12 marine protected areas.
- Mobilize and empower a network of local civil society organizations in the Bird’s Head Seascape to complement government-mandated conservation efforts through: environmental education and community outreach; improved monitoring; sustainable development of coastal livelihoods; and stronger networking, coordination and capacity development of Seascape stakeholders.

The Blue Abadi Fund will have two granting tracks, a primary granting facility and INOVASI, a small grants facility to support smaller local West Papuan organizations actively participating in the conservation and sustainable development of the Seascape.
