The Sea People need your help, it takes less than a minute and at no cost…Please read this, thanks
It will take longer to read this than it does to help! If you love Raja then you MUST do this!! The deadline for voting is March 16, so do it now.
The Sea people-Orang Laut Papua is a non-profit foundation working with local communities to contribute to the conservation of one of the last locations on Earth where coral reef systems still thrive. The future of local communities and stakeholders, including visiting divers/snorkelers, depends upon the continued health of the reefs, and the continued health of the reefs depends upon the decisions made by local communities and stakeholders. The SEA People strives to create mutually beneficial programs and collaborations that provide benefit to all stakeholders, and in doing so, protect the most marine biodiverse location on earth.
Believe it or not all of Raja’s reefs are pristine…The Sea People !
As many of you know, they’re a small, field-based organization working in Raja Ampat — restoring reefs, training and employing people from local villages, and strengthening long-term ocean stewardship.
The Sea People have just been shortlisted by Journeys With Purpose for their Oceans & Coasts Pillar of Purpose 2026 — a public vote where the organization with the most votes becomes their Oceans & Coasts Impact Partner for the year.
If selected, this support would directly strengthen their work on the ground. Click on the image below to learn more about their Reef Restoration project.
It would mean:
- More coral fragments planted
- More degraded reef stabilized and restored
- More local people trained and employed
- More long-term protection for the most biodiverse reefs on Earth
But here is the reality:
- They don’t have a marketing budget.
- They don’t have a communications team.
- They don’t have the reach of large organizations.
What they do have is real impact — and a community that believes in what they’re building.
So —
- If you believe in community-led conservation
- If you believe in restoring and protecting the world’s most biodiverse reefs
- If you believe local people must be part of shaping the future of their oceans
Please stand with the Sea People and Vote
It takes seconds, seriously, and costs nothing!

And if you can, tag a couple of friends who care about coral reefs — it really helps!
This one small action could help The Sea People grow their work that has already restored over 3 hectares of degraded reef, transplanted 85,000+ coral fragments, and built an Papuan-led restoration team — with so much more still possible.
If you’re willing, please share this post within your own networks. This is one of those moments where a simple click can genuinely help.
Their team in Raja Ampat may be small — but are committed, and are building something that works.
With your support, they can take it further.
